A delegation from the Mejlis of Turkmenistan participated in the First Interparliamentary Forum "Central Asia – European Union," held in Samarkand on March 30–31. The platform brought together legislators from the region and Europe to discuss strategic security and sustainable development. It was noted that the Central Asia – European Union Summit, held in Samarkand a year ago, elevated interregional cooperation to the level of strategic partnership. It was emphasized that the Forum is one of the initiatives put forward at that summit, and that relations have reached a new, qualitatively higher level.

The Turkmen delegation's speech highlighted President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's initiative to declare 2028 the "Year of International Law." This initiative, previously announced at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, received support from forum participants as a timely step toward strengthening the central role of the UN and the rule of law in global politics.

Representatives of the Mejlis actively participated in three specialized sections of the forum, presenting Turkmenistan's experience in areas such as security and the environment, expanding transit corridors and attracting investment in the energy sector, and developing scientific exchange, educational programs, and tourism potential.

Forum participants particularly emphasized the constructive role of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality as an effective tool for ensuring peace and stability in the Eurasian region.
