Today, on April 14, an event dedicated to Türkiye Tourism Week was held at the Turkish Cultural Center in Ashgabat. It brought together representatives of the diplomatic corps, tourism industry, cultural circles, and media. The ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Culture and Tourism of Türkiye, Nadir Alpaslan.

Opening the event, Nadir Alpaslan emphasized the special importance of cultural dialogue between the two countries. He also highlighted that tourism is an important tool for strengthening international ties and mutual understanding between nations:

“Our cooperation with Turkmenistan goes far beyond formal diplomacy. It is based on deep historical and cultural closeness. Together, we can further unlock the potential of the Great Silk Road routes and turn the region into one of the most attractive tourist destinations in the world.”

“Today, Türkiye is not only about sea, sun, and beaches. It is a country that offers a rich diversity of tourism experiences—from archaeology and gastronomy to medical and religious tourism. We are proud to be developing one of the most comprehensive and sustainable tourism models in the world,” he added.

Alpaslan also noted that tourism is one of the key instruments for strengthening cultural ties between countries.

“Every tourist visit contributes to strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and a shared cultural space. The rich historical and cultural routes of the region are of particular value to us. Sites such as Nisa, Merv, and other ancient centers of civilization are living heritage of the Great Silk Road,” he said.

He also stressed the importance of expanding tourism exchanges and increasing investment in the sector.

“We aim not only to increase tourist flows, but also to develop mutual investments, improve transport accessibility, and strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors. This creates a foundation for the long-term growth of the industry,” the Deputy Minister added.

“Tourism is a bridge between cultures and peoples. It helps us better understand each other and strengthen friendship. We are very pleased to see that Türkiye is one of the most popular destinations for citizens of Turkmenistan,” the ambassador emphasized.

He also added that the diplomatic mission is always ready to assist citizens planning trips to Türkiye, especially ahead of the touristic season.
