Tesla will turn 50 thousand Australian homes into a giant power generator

About 50,000 homes in South Australia will be equipped with solar panels from Tesla, turning them into a giant power plant. The project will be implemented jointly with the government of the state using the resources of the Australian Renewable Energy Development Fund. The decision to implement the project was made after a major storm in 2016, which deprived most of the homes and infrastructure in South Australia of electricity. Experts hope that after such a diversification of energy sources, interruptions in the supply of electricity due to natural phenomena will be substantially reduced. In total, more than $ 25 million will be invested in the project. According to Tesla's calculations, the "battery" houses will produce as much energy as a large gas turbine or coal-fired power plant. According to the Australian government, published in 2016, renewable energy accounts for 14% of the total energy consumption of the country.
