On Monday, Russia announced a six-month ban on the export of aviation fuel to ensure domestic supplies. The ban will be in effect from Monday, June 1, to November 30, 2026, according to a statement from the Russian government.
The decision aims to maintain stability in the domestic fuel market, the statement noted. The ban applies to fuel purchased on the exchange. Exceptions include fuel in technical tanks used by aircraft in transit, batches of aviation fuel that cleared customs before the temporary restriction came into force, and deliveries under intergovernmental agreements, the statement said.
Note: Aviation fuel (kerosene) is the primary fuel for jet engines. The export ban is intended to prevent shortages and price increases on the Russian domestic market, especially during the peak travel season.
