For the first time, a choreographic performance from the French group K. Danse will be held in Ashgabat

A unique choreographic performance using digital and interactive technologies will be presented on stage for the first time in Ashgabat by European artists. Today it is one of the most fashionable and innovative areas of contemporary artistic creativity in Europe. The Representative Office of the European Union in Turkmenistan and the French Institute made such an original gift for the Turkmen viewers. The organizers dedicated the cultural event to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the EU.

“Myself” is the name of an interactive choreographic performance created by the K. Danse group from the French city of Toulouse. The show is a dialogue between a dancer and a digital visual and audio device specially developed by Italian specialists of the InfoMus Casa Paganini research center.

The main role in the performance will be performed by the dancer Evane DUGUET, and the author of the art project is Jean-Marc MATOS, a famous French choreographer. He studied with the greats Merce Cunningham, Lucinda Childs and David Gordon in New York. Mato was one of the first to create unique and one-of-a-kind choreographic projects united by the human body and digital technologies.

His shows, which are about forty-five choreographic productions, are shown on the best stages in Europe, Central and South America, the USA, Canada, Morocco, India, Pakistan and others. You can also see these performances in Paris – screenings take place in such cultural spaces as the Pyramid of the Louvre or the CENTQUATRE.

Another participant of the project, or rather its co-author, is Antoine SCHMITT, a digital artist, creator of a visual and digital device. By profession, he is a software engineer in the field of "human-machine" relations and artificial intelligence. In his developments, programming of his creations, which have been awarded high international awards, is at the forefront. The works were exhibited and demonstrated in such creative locations as the Georges Pompidou Center, the Museum of Decorative Arts of Paris, transmediale, Ars Electronica, Sonar, the UNESCO International Video Dance Festival, Vida, CYNETart and others.

The group of artists will be complemented by technical manager Fabien LE PRIEULT.

The performance will run for two days – on May 31 and June 1 in Ashgabat at the Magtymguly Music and Drama Theater. The performance starts at 19:00. Admission is free.
