The Iranian Ambassador to Turkmenistan stressed the need to expand bilateral relations with neighboring Turkmenistan.
Ali Mojtaba Ruzbahani, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan, and Yagub Ali Nazari, Governor of Razavi Khorasan Province, held a meeting at the Governor’s office in Mashhad on Saturday afternoon.
Following the meeting, the Ambassador said that the most important issues discussed were aspects of expanding cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan, the place of Khorasan Razavi in these relations, facilitating transportation and transit in trade, the gas issue and other areas of partnership between the two sides, Mehr news agency reports.
According to Ruzbakhani, they also discussed the preparation of the visit of the Governor of Khorasan Razavi to the Mary region of Turkmenistan in order to discuss in more detail the formats of interaction between the regions of the two countries.
The new Iranian ambassador to Turkmenistan officially took office in November this year.
In the same month, the 17th meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Ashgabat and an exhibition of goods and services.
