Turkmen-Chinese Art Exhibition Dedicated to Horses Opens in Hong Kong
The opening ceremony for the traveling international exhibition "A Thousand Years of Divine Horses: Chinese-Turkmen Equestrian Culture and Art" took place at the Jing Art Museum in Hong Kong. This major cultural project was organized by the China Arts and Entertainment Group Ltd. and the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China, with the participation of the China-Turkmenistan Cultural Center and the support of leading Hong Kong cultural organizations.
Centered on the theme "Silk Road Equestrian Culture from a Modern Perspective," the exhibition brings together 37 works by 21 artists from both countries. It features 27 masterpieces of contemporary Chinese art and 10 original works by renowned Turkmen artists, including pieces by Bayram Mamiyev, Jumamurat Gurbanov, and Ahmed Khojayev. The artworks are organized into two thematic sections that highlight both the stylistic characteristics and the shared spiritual essence of the artistic traditions found at opposite ends of the Great Silk Road.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, representatives of the organizers and diplomatic circles highlighted the event's special symbolic significance: in the Eastern calendar, 2026 marks both the Chinese Year of the Horse and the Turkmen "Year of the Racehorse." Wang Lu, a representative of the China Arts and Entertainment Group, noted that Hong Kong was the second stop on the project's interregional tour, following the Xinjiang Art Museum. From Hong Kong, where the exhibition runs until September 17, the display will travel to Ashgabat.
As part of efforts to further develop cultural ties, the organizers have also planned a tour to Hong Kong by Turkmen horsemen for joint cultural and performance events.
