An international table dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great outstanding Turkmen poet Magtymguly Fragi was held in the city of Kazan.
The round table “Magtymguly Fragi – the great educator and thinker of the Turkic world” was opened by Director of the Institute of Language, Literature and Art named after G. Ibragimov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Doctor of Philological Sciences Kim Minnullin. President of the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, Professor Rifkat Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Union of Writers of the Republic of Tatarstan, People's Poet of the Republic Rkail Zaidullin also addressed the participants of the event with a welcoming speech.
The round table participants discussed the significance of Magtymguly’s creative heritage for the world community. In particular, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Chinar Rustemova spoke about the common attitude of Magtymguly and universal goals, head of the manuscript department of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts named after Magtymguly of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan Geldimyrat Muhammedov revealed the global significance of the poet’s manuscripts.
Doctor of Philological Sciences Farit Yakhin, leading researcher at the Institute of Language, Literature and Art named after G. Ibragimov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, spoke about the work of Magtymguly in the context of Tatar historical and cultural thought. The speeches also noted moral and philosophical motives in Magtymguly’s work and the phenomenology of his poetry.
On the sidelines of the round table, an exhibition of decorative and applied arts of Turkmenistan was organized, Magtymguly’s poems were performed to the accompaniment of the Turkmen dutar.
As part of the visit to Tatarstan, the Turkmen delegation visited the Academy of Sciences of Tatarstan, Kazan (Volga Region) Federal University, and visited the Kazan Kremlin.
