World's first camel's hospital opens in Dubai

There is an operating room and an X-ray room with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and next year CAT scanning facilities will be installed.

The UAE became the first country in the world to design and create a hospital for camels. The clinic is built in Al-Marmum, where the famous camel races are held. The project cost is 10.9 million USD.

As the director of the hospital Mohamed Al Buloshi said, there are many clinics for horses in the world, but no clinics for camels yet. “We are very interested in preserving our heritage,” he said. “And we must take care of camels, having the opportunity to treat them from a medical point of view.”

It was very difficult to find equipment suitable for the treatment of camels for hospital, and as a result, most of the equipment was custom-made. Operational and X-ray rooms with magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are already equipped, and next year scanning facilities will be installed. A number of exclusive devices were adapted from the arsenal of clinics for horses.

There is a small race track on the territory of the hospital for the rehabilitation period. The hospital's medical staff consisted of specialists from Great Britain and Mexico.
