Ashgabat may experience the hottest July in recent years
04.07.2025 | 15:30 |This summer in Ashgabat is unusual: June was the coolest in more than a decade, and forecasters do not rule out that July 2025 may follow the same scenario. The average monthly temperature in June for the first time since 2013 was +29.5°, which is in sharp contrast to a series of particularly hot Junes in previous years.
Thus, in 2015, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, the average monthly temperature in June was significantly higher than normal. In June 2015, an absolute temperature record was set not only for June, but also for the entire year of observations: +47.2°.
This year, the situation is different. After unusually warm spring months — a record-breaking hot May and the second-warmest April in 134 years of observations — June turned out to be cooler and closer to the climatic norm. In the first half of the month, due to the invasion of cold air masses, the temperature was significantly lower than usual for several days in a row, and on June 8, the maximum daytime temperature was only +19° — a rare occurrence for the city at the beginning of summer.
In July, as experts predict, similar weather patterns are expected. The average monthly temperature will probably fluctuate within the norm (±1° from the climatic value of +31.7°), with short periods of heat with temperatures above +40° possible, but prolonged and extreme heat waves are not expected.
Thus, July 2025 may become one of the most moderate temperatures in recent years, confirming forecasters' predictions that the current summer in Ashgabat will generally be less hot than in previous years.
