 Central Asian Ombudsmen agree to cooperate on protecting children's rights

The Children's Rights Commissioners of the Central Asian countries, including the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan Yazdursun Gurbannazarova, gathered in Tashkent to discuss common issues of protecting children's rights. The international forum on September 11-12 became a key venue for creating a regional platform aimed at strengthening cooperation and developing common approaches to solving problems related to children's rights. The forum was the first such conference dedicated to children's rights in Central Asia.

The forum's agenda included issues of particular importance for the region, such as ensuring children's safety in the digital space, preventing all forms of violence, and ensuring children's access to justice.

The forum was also attended by representatives of Norway, Croatia, and Finland, which currently chairs the European Ombudsman System for the Child.

In her speech, Ombudsman of Turkmenistan Yazdursun Gurbannazarova shared the country's experience in protecting children's rights, noting the successes of state programs and the role of the Human Rights Commissioner in this process. A representative of the Department for the Protection of Women's and Children's Rights of the Office of the Ombudsman of Turkmenistan also took part in the forum.

Following the meeting, a Declaration calling for strengthening regional and international partnership in this area was adopted. Forum participants expressed their readiness to continue interaction within the framework of the new platform.

Within the framework of the conference, a meeting of authorized representatives with Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbaeva and the heads of the National Center for Human Rights was held.
