During the expanded talks, the presidents of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan discussed priority areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian, and transport and logistics collaboration. Particular attention was paid to the implementation of joint projects in energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, IT, education, and medicine, according to the Akorda press service.
"We attach particular importance to the comprehensive development of cooperation with Turkmenistan in the spirit of good neighborliness and mutual support. Through joint efforts, we are ready to confidently move toward a brighter future. I am confident that our strategic partnership will continue to strengthen for the benefit of our fraternal peoples," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
The President of Kazakhstan noted that active and productive contacts have been established between the two countries at all levels. Work is underway between the governments, and interagency ties are strengthening. Our countries also collaborate effectively within multilateral structures. Astana and Ashgabat share a common vision and similar approaches to developing the situation on many issues on the regional and international agenda.
Trade and economic cooperation received special attention during the talks. Over the past five years, mutual trade has more than quadrupled, exceeding half a billion dollars.
According to Tokayev, approximately 140 companies with Turkmen capital successfully operating in Kazakhstan are making a significant contribution to strengthening economic ties. Kazakh investment in Turkmenistan's economy has exceeded $120 million.
Serdar Berdimuhamedov stated that Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan are strategic partners in Central Asia, noting that our countries are united by shared historical roots, spiritual affinity of cultural values, and traditions and customs carefully preserved and passed down from generation to generation.
In the political and diplomatic sphere, Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan engage in constructive cooperation on pressing global issues such as peace and security, strengthening energy stability, developing transport connectivity, achieving sustainable development goals, and combating climate change.
During the talks, the parties also noted the progressive expansion of cultural and humanitarian ties, exemplified by the holding of joint Culture Days of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, as well as the unveiling of monuments to outstanding figures who have made significant contributions to the spiritual and cultural heritage of the two peoples.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized that the Turkmen President's visit to Kazakhstan will open a new chapter in bilateral cooperation and provide additional impetus to strengthening friendship and strategic partnership.
