On 25 November 2025, at Palazzo Valentini, a conference organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Italian Republic in cooperation with the Italian Institute of Asia (ISIA) brought together a Turkmen delegation led by the President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, Allaberdi Ashirov. The event was dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the proclamation of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality, the 34th anniversary of the country’s Independence, and the declaration of 2025 as the International Year of Peace and Trust at the initiative of Turkmenistan.
As part of the conference, a presentation of a book containing selected poems of the great Turkmen poet Magtymguly Pyragy translated into Italian took place.
The conference was attended by diplomats, representatives of Italy’s governmental institutions, and members of the academic community. Speeches were delivered by Allaberdi Ashirov, President of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan; Toyly Komekov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Italy; Hezretguly Durdyev, Deputy Director of the Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts; as well as, from the Italian side, ISIA President M. Morgoni, ISIA Secretary General D. Palmieri, Capitol Council Adviser F. Santori, and Deputy for Culture, Science, and Education I. Manzi.
Speakers highlighted that Turkmenistan’s neutral status has served for three decades as a solid foundation for both its domestic and foreign policies.

It was emphasized that the policy of positive neutrality contributes to strengthening regional security, expanding mutually beneficial international cooperation, and fostering economic development. Attention was also drawn to Turkmenistan’s peace-loving international initiatives, advanced by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and successfully implemented by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, aimed at promoting peace, trust, and sustainable development.
Speakers also noted the importance of the upcoming international forum that will be held on 12 December 2025 in Ashgabat, dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, the International Day of Neutrality, and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Permanent Neutrality.
Particular attention was given to the literary legacy of Magtymguly Pyragy, whose works, according to participants, embody ideas of friendship, brotherhood, and humanism. It was stressed that the publication of Magtymguly's works in Italian is an indicator of the humanitarian partnership between the two countries and offers a broader readership the opportunity to become acquainted with the poet’s heritage.

The works of the Turkmen classic, which form part of the golden treasury of world literature, have been translated into many languages. The presented collection includes 130 poems translated by Italian scholars of Oriental studies with the consultative support of experts from the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan.
