From January 10 to 14, the XXII International Zhautykov Olympiad in Mathematics, Physics and Informatics was held in the city of Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan. More than 600 talented school students from 16 countries around the world took part in this prestigious intellectual competition.
A team of 28 school students from Turkmenistan demonstrated excellent preparation, winning a total of 16 awards: 1 gold, 4 silver and 11 bronze medals.
A special achievement was made by Hemra Gurbanov, a 10th-grade student of Secondary School No. 86 in Ashgabat, who won a gold medal in mathematics.
Silver medals were added to the team’s collection by Maliksha Meylismuradov, Murat Ruslanov and Selim Hommatdurdyyev (mathematics), as well as Dovlet Annamuradov from the city of Shatlyk (physics). Another 11 students were awarded bronze medals, demonstrating strong knowledge not only in the exact sciences but also in the field of information technologies.
These achievements became the first significant victory of young compatriots in 2026, which is being held under the motto “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan- the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.”
The international success was made possible thanks to comprehensive reforms and the support of the President of Turkmenistan. The conditions created in the country enable young people to develop their natural abilities, successfully compete with peers from other countries, and strengthen the prestige of the national education system at the global level.
