Ashgabat, January 28 | ORIENT. A briefing was held at the Uzbek Embassy, revealing details of a large-scale "reset" of the national development plan. The "Uzbekistan 2030" strategy, adopted just two years ago, required updating. The reason is paradoxical: the country is demonstrating such growth rates that many of the 2030 targets have already become a reality.

The main change is the revision of the GDP target. While Tashkent initially planned to reach $160 billion in economic output by 2030, current trends allow it to reach this level as early as 2026.

New benchmark: By 2030, Uzbekistan aims to grow its economy to $240 billion.

Investment boom: The country is preparing to absorb $250 billion in investments.

Human Capital: With the population projected to grow to 41 million, the strategy aims to increase per capita income to over $5,800.

A "Green" Leap and IT Expansion

The updated document is not only about money, but also about quality of life.

— The share of "green" electricity in the balance should be 40-54% (renewable energy capacity: 25,000 MW).

— Annual IT services exports are planned to reach $5 billion, training 300,000 young specialists.

— Ecology: The "Yashil Makon" program envisages the planting of 200 million seedlings annually.

Turkmenistan – Uzbekistan: A Strategic Tandem

One of the most important pillars of the strategy, "A Secure and Peaceful State," directly impacts regional policy. Ambassador Ravshanbek Alimov emphasized that for Tashkent, relations with Ashgabat are the "gold standard" of good-neighborliness.

Thanks to the will of Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, cooperation has reached a level where the economies of the two countries complement each other rather than compete.

"A strong and open Uzbekistan is a reliable partner for Turkmenistan in promoting transregional corridors and ensuring security for all of Central Asia," Ambassador Ravshanbek Alimov stated at a briefing.

The update of Strategy 2030 is a signal to the entire region: the rules of the game are changing, and they are accelerating. For Turkmen businesses and government agencies, this opens a window of opportunity in industrial cooperation, transit, and the shared use of breakthrough technologies. This is an invitation to even closer cooperation, turning our region into a key bridge between East and West.

Direct Speech: Turkmenistan – a Key Ally in Transregional Projects

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of a briefing, the Uzbek Ambassador emphasized that updating the state strategy is not simply a bureaucratic process, but a response to the rapidly changing world. According to him, the "New Uzbekistan" today is, first and foremost, a state open to its neighbors.

"Public life and global processes are constantly evolving, and the transformation of international relations presents us with new challenges," the diplomat noted. "That is precisely why President Shavkat Mirziyoyev initiated the Strategy update: we must take into account the current needs of the people and the demands of the times."

Speaking about the vector of cooperation with Ashgabat, the Ambassador highlighted three main pillars on which the partnership is based:

Political Will: "Thanks to the strong will of our countries' leaders—President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, and National Leader of the Turkmen People Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov—our cooperation has reached an unprecedented level of strategic partnership."

Regional Pragmatism: A strong and open Uzbekistan sees Turkmenistan as a key ally in the implementation of transregional projects. Transport corridors that will connect the region to global markets are a priority.

Spiritual Kinship: All economic calculations are based on centuries-old history and cultural affinities, which make our relations natural and strong.

"A stable Uzbekistan is a reliable partner for Turkmenistan in ensuring peace and security throughout Central Asia," the head of the diplomatic mission concluded, adding that the updated strategy will lay the foundation for the prosperity of both fraternal peoples.
