The official inauguration ceremony of the new head of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro, took place in Lisbon. Ambassador of Turkmenistan Maksat Charyev participated in the ceremonies.
The inauguration took place in the historic building of the Assembly of the Republic, bringing together the country's top leadership and representatives of foreign diplomatic missions.
During the official reception at the Ajuda National Palace, the Turkmen diplomat briefly met with the new head of state. Ambassador Maksat Charyev conveyed congratulations and best wishes to António José Seguro on behalf of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
An important outcome of the meeting was António José Seguro's statement expressing his commitment to developing interstate dialogue. Having gratefully accepted the Turkmen side's words of support, the new Portuguese leader expressed interest in visiting Turkmenistan in the future.
The parties also discussed prospects for cooperation within international organizations and strengthening ties between Ashgabat and Lisbon.
