The United Kingdom Ambassador to Turkmenistan, Stephen Conlon, and the UNICEF Representative in Turkmenistan, Jalpa Ratna, visited Pilot Inclusive School No. 74 in Ashgabat. The purpose of the visit was to observe how the system of inclusive education is being implemented in the country.
During the visit, the guests met with the school administration and representatives of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The parties discussed current progress and key challenges in promoting equal opportunities for students. The Ambassador and the UNICEF Representative also visited classrooms to personally observe how the educational process is organized.
The event took place within the framework of the project “Accessible and Inclusive Schools for Children with Disabilities in Turkmenistan.” This initiative is funded by the UK Government through the UK International Development agency.
The project aims to create conditions that enable children with disabilities to receive quality education. Particular attention is paid to close coordination between:
• teachers and school administration;
• students’ families;
• partners from various sectors.
Such visits help assess the effectiveness of the inclusive environment being developed and strengthen cooperation in the field of education.
