A delegation from Turkmenistan, led by Deputy Foreign Minister Akhmet Gurbanov, paid a comprehensive working visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia. On May 8-9, a series of meetings with government and business representatives took place in Phnom Penh. One of the outcomes was an agreement to develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in tourism. This initiative was discussed in detail at a meeting with Cambodian Tourism Minister Huot Khak, emphasizing the role of the travel industry as an important tool for bringing people together and promoting cultural and historical heritage internationally.

At a meeting with Permanent Secretary of State and Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia Ith Sophea, the parties noted with satisfaction the high level of organization of the first political consultations between the foreign ministries of the two countries. The two sides discussed in detail the development of partnerships in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, and cultural spheres, placing particular emphasis on intensifying regular political dialogue, strengthening contacts at the government and parliamentary levels, and expanding the legal framework, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

Prospects for expanding economic cooperation were the main topic of Akhmet Gurbanov's meeting with Neok Oknha Keith Meng, President of the Cambodian Chamber of Commerce. The Turkmen side emphasized the importance of establishing direct business contacts between entrepreneurs of the two countries. In this regard, they proposed intensifying cooperation through joint business forums, trade missions, and thematic online meetings. The development of digital trade, regular exchanges of business delegations, and participation in international exhibitions were identified as priority areas. This visit laid a solid foundation for diversifying Turkmenistan's partnership with Cambodia in key areas.
