The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan issued an official statement to the media, reaffirming the country's firm and principled position on the Taiwan issue.
The document emphasizes that Turkmenistan, which has enjoyed three internationally recognized status of permanent neutrality, builds its foreign policy in strict compliance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations.
Guided by one of the fundamental principles of the UN—respect for the territorial integrity of states—Ashgabat reiterates that the Government of the People's Republic of China is the sole legitimate government representing all of China, and Taiwan is an inalienable part of Chinese territory.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs specifically emphasized that the country resolutely opposes any form of "Taiwan independence," fully supports the peaceful development of relations between the two sides of the Taiwan Strait, and shares all efforts of the Chinese government to unify the country.
