Scientists Develop GeoPT Training Technology for Accurate 3D Modeling


Researchers from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Tsinghua University have developed a new artificial intelligence training method called GeoPT. The innovative technology enables computer models to gain a deeper understanding of physical laws and to virtually reproduce the behavior of various real-world objects with high accuracy, BELTA reports.
The GeoPT system virtually reproduces three-dimensional mechanical interactions, showing how particles move and collide when they come into contact with objects. As a result, the AI reaches maximum accuracy twice as fast as existing counterparts, while requiring 60% less data for full training. The technology is also very easy to use: an engineer only needs to upload a 3D model of an object and specify the speed and direction of the applied force. The algorithm then calculates all the resulting physical reactions automatically.
The development opens up significant opportunities for engineering and robotics. With GeoPT, specialists will be able to predict in advance how cars, aircraft, or robots will behave during collisions, as well as under the influence of wind and water. This will significantly accelerate the testing of new technologies and make them safer already at the design stage.
