Inter-MFA consultations of the CIS member states on issues of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation were held on June 1 in Minsk.

The consultations were attended by representatives of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee.

“The meeting was held in a constructive and interested atmosphere, a thorough exchange of views took place on a wide range of issues of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, including the prevention of an arms race in outer space, cooperation with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, biological security, the military-political dimension of the OSCE and conventional arms control in Europe,” the press service of the CIS Executive Committee said.

The participants in the discussion outlined ways to intensify cooperation between the CIS countries in this area.

It is planned that the next meeting of the CIS Joint Consultative Commission on Disarmament Issues will be held in December this year in Moscow.
