Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a series of important bilateral talks with European and Latin American partners on the sidelines of the high-level open debates of the United Nations Security Council.
At a meeting with Günther Krichbaum, Minister of State for European Affairs of the German Federal Foreign Office, on May 26, the two sides discussed in detail current issues of Turkmen-German cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural, and humanitarian spheres. Turkmenistan placed particular emphasis on the position voiced during the UN Security Council debates on behalf of the Group of Friends of Neutrality for Peace, Security, and Sustainable Development, emphasizing the inevitability of preventive mechanisms in resolving global crises.
The German side confirmed its strong interest in deepening long-term ties with Ashgabat, including expanding the presence of German businesses in the Turkmen market, developing human capital, and intensifying dialogue within the multilateral strategic format "Central Asia – Germany."
Another important area of Ashgabat's diplomatic activity at the UN headquarters was Rashid Meredov's full-scale talks with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla. The heads of the foreign ministries reviewed the current state of interstate dialogue and outlined specific steps to diversify the partnership for the long term.

The ministers acknowledged the significant untapped potential in the trade and economic sector and advocated for the rapid expansion of the joint legal framework to stimulate direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries. The diplomats identified healthcare, agriculture, sports, and tourism as the most promising practical areas of cooperation.
Following the meetings, the parties reaffirmed their commitment to regular inter-MFA consultations and expressed their shared desire to strengthen friendly relations based on the unwavering principles of mutual respect and universal trust.
