Further advancement of large-scale joint energy projects and expansion of long-term cooperation in the gas sector were key topics of discussion between the foreign ministers of Turkmenistan and the People's Republic of China. The dialogue between Rashid Meredov and Wang Yi took place in New York on the sidelines of the UN Security Council High-Level Open Debates on May 27.
In the current international context, the diplomats noted, unconditional support for a multilateral approach to global security, strict adherence to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, and the comprehensive strengthening of the central role of the global organization are particularly important. In this regard, the parties highly praised the effectiveness of Ashgabat and Beijing's coordination on international platforms, reaffirming their mutual readiness to further mutually support key constructive initiatives and proposals from the two countries.

A high level of political understanding is based on regular contacts between the top leadership, which serve as the main driver for strengthening mutual trust. The interlocutors particularly emphasized the significance of the visit of National Leader of the Turkmen People and Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to China in March of this year; his talks with President Xi Jinping gave a powerful additional impetus to the comprehensive partnership.
A significant milestone in the trade and economic track was the visit to Ashgabat in April by First Vice Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China Ding Xuexian, which laid a solid foundation for new innovative and technological agreements.
Summing up the New York meeting, the ministers noted the progressive nature of practical cooperation across a wide range of areas, including culture and humanitarian exchanges, reaffirming the unwavering commitment of Ashgabat and Beijing to deepening Eurasian integration.
