The meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, and Minister of Culture of Azerbaijan, Adil Kerimli, on Friday, June 5, confirmed a long-term trend toward deep integration in the humanitarian sphere. The talks, timed to the launch of Days of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkmenistan, reached the level of substantive planning for joint projects. The parties discussed in detail the expansion of direct contacts between specialized educational organizations, museums, libraries, and creative groups of the two countries, marking the transition from one-off events to systemic academic and cultural exchange.
The ministers placed special emphasis on intensifying ties between the creative intelligentsia and coordinating activities on international cultural platforms. A key practical step in this direction was the three-day program of recently launched Days of Culture, held in Ashgabat and the city of Arkadag. The large-scale festival includes not only traditional concert formats, but also lecture sessions dedicated to Azerbaijani literary heritage, film screenings, and specialized exhibitions.
The festival will conclude with a gala concert featuring Azerbaijani artists, but the diplomatic track of the meetings demonstrated that the primary goal of the bilateral partnership extends beyond the festival program. Ashgabat and Baku are committed to creating new, permanent forms of cooperation capable of effectively promoting the historical and cultural heritage of both countries at major global venues.
