In the sky over England and France, an asteroid burned down, the fall of which was predicted by scientists

Residents of England and France had a chance to see a spectacular celestial sight — the burning of an asteroid in the atmosphere, from which a bright glow was formed.

The peculiarity of this phenomenon is that the entry of a celestial body into the atmosphere and its combustion were accurately predicted by astronomers in advance, the online astronomical magazine "The Universe" reports.

Asteroid 2023 XH1 was discovered on the evening of February 12 by a Hungarian astronomer. He determined that the diameter of the body is no more than one meter, and it moves at a speed of 14 km / s. Later, astronomers predicted that the meteorite would enter the earth's atmosphere 7 hours after its discovery. That's exactly what happened.

The meteorite entered the atmosphere at exactly the predicted time and in the expected place. This is the seventh case in history when the fall of a celestial body to Earth was predicted in advance.
