The “Ethnofashion of the Turkic World” show in Kazakhstan will feature a collection of Turkmen national clothing
25.09.2023 | 18:40 |Ethnic Fashion Week called “Ethnofashion of the Turkic World” will be held on September 26 in the Kazakh city of Turkestan. The fashion show will take place at an international festival as part of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the International Organization of Turkic Culture TURKSOY, according to the website of the event organizers.
Twenty designers from TURKSOY participating countries and observers will come to the ancient city of Turkestan, which is also called the spiritual capital of the Islamic world. The couturiers will present collections of clothing from ethnic groups of nine countries, including Turkmenistan.
The VI international week “Ethnofashion of the Turkic World” started on September 20 in the Uzbek city of Fergana and will continue on September 26 in Kazakhstan’s Turkestan. The fashion project, created for the spiritual rapprochement and strengthening of cultural ties of the Turkic peoples, brought together the leadership of TURKSOY and ethnodesigners from Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Mongolia, the Republic of Tyva, Tatarstan, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), as well as artists and artisans, designers and representatives of creative industries from different regions of Kazakhstan.
During the festival, various cultural and creative events will also be held - designers will take part in the round table “Prospects for the Development of Ethnic Style in Fashion”, artisans will present their works at the fair of arts and crafts, landscapes and views of Turkestan will be captured on artists’ canvases during the competitive open air. Musical and original master classes for vocalists and musicians will also be organized.
The international organization TURKSOY, which is called “UNESCO of the Turkic world”, was founded in 1993 by agreement of the ministers of culture of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Turkey. Later, TURKSOY included the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, regions of the Russian Federation - the republics of Tatarstan, Bashkortostan, Altai, Sakha (Yakutia), Tuva, Khakassia, as well as Gagauzia within Moldova as observer states.
In 2023, the International Organization TURKSOY celebrates its 30th anniversary.
