The first ever draft global convention against cybercrime was adopted

The UN Committee approved the draft of the first ever international treaty to combat cybercrime.

According to the draft Convention, it will promote international cooperation, including technological assistance to developing countries, and will oblige signatory countries to strengthen measures against computer crime.

According to Warisawa Koichi, head of the Department of International Security Cooperation at the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the project represents an important step forward for the international community in the fight against transnational cybercrime.

The UN General Assembly is expected to adopt the draft treaty next month.
