Universities in Kazakhstan consider introducing a new specialization
28.03.2025 | 15:09 |Kazakhstan has proposed the introduction of a new specialization in its higher education institutions focusing on demography, as reported by Kazinform.
Zhuldyzai Iskakovа, Advisor to the Chairman of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has initiated the creation of an educational program in demography, emphasizing the necessity of developing a specific document – a Concept for Demographic Development.
Iskakovа noted that the current training of personnel under the "demography" program is conducted within the framework of "history" educational programs, which does not align with modern requirements.
"History, after all, concerns the past, while demography is fundamentally about the future" stated the speaker, urging the opening of new departments in universities to prepare specialists capable of addressing current demographic challenges.
Last year, the L. N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University in Astana discussed the possibility of establishing such a department within the university with the Higher School of Economics of Russia.
