Commemorative Coin Honoring Steve Jobs to Be Issued in the U.S.

Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple and one of the most influential innovators in the history of technology, will be honored on a $1 commemorative coin to be issued in the United States in 2026. The decision comes 15 years after his death in 2011.

The coin will be produced by the United States Mint as part of an annual program dedicated to individuals and events that have made a significant contribution to society. The coin depicts a young Steve Jobs sitting in a valley in California — the state where he was born, founded Apple, and spent his life.

The commemorative coin program has been in operation since 2018. In 2026, alongside Steve Jobs, coins will also honor scientist Norman Borlaug, who developed methods to increase grain crop yields, and the team behind the Cray-1 supercomputer.

Steve Jobs founded Apple in 1976 together with Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. Under his leadership, devices such as the iPhone, iPad, and Mac were created, transforming perceptions of personal technology and influencing the development of the global digital industry.
