Turkmen students from BSTU named after Shuhov visited Prohorovka on an excursion as part of the "Victorious Together" project
17.04.2025 | 15:30 |BSTU named after Shukhov pays special attention to the preservation of historical memory. The university has students from the former republics of the Soviet Union, and the university's policy emphasizes the strengthening of intercultural dialogue and mutual understanding. This allows young people not only to better understand their shared history but also to forge strong ties between peoples based on respect and cooperation.
The starting point for the launch of the university project "Victorious Together" was a meeting between the university's leadership and Valery Ruzin, Deputy Secretary-General of the Assembly of Peoples of Eurasia and Africa, who is the successor to the film festival of the same name established in honor of Vladimir Menshov.
"For the third year, we have been gathering students, representatives of the former Soviet republics, for special thematic meetings where participants share their family stories about the Great Patriotic War and talk about how they celebrate Victory Day. This year, we decided to take a group of students from Turkmenistan on an excursion to Prohorovka so that they could visit the battlefield, see the list of surnames, among which there are also Turkmen ones, to be proud of the feat of their ancestors and the history of their country. The students approached the trip with particular reverence" said Irina Avilova, Vice-Rector for Educational Activities and Youth Policy at BSTU named after Shukhov.
The students visited Prohorovka, where one of the largest tank battles in military history took place in 1943. During the excursion, they familiarized themselves with photographs and documents, saw military equipment used in the battles, and heard stories about the victories that were achieved thanks to the wisdom of strategists and the tireless labor of the home front workers. All of this allowed the students to better immerse themselves in the atmosphere of wartime. The trip served as a reminder of the significance of the great history of the countries and the common heritage that must be passed down from generation to generation.
