School libraries of Turkmenistan: a contribution to the development of reading culture and creative thinking

Public events and book exhibitions organized by school librarians in honor of significant dates and holidays play a crucial role in fostering a love of reading among the younger generation and developing the creative thinking of students. Recently, a large-scale book exhibition entitled «Şadyýan tomus» was held at Secondary School No. 29 with in-depth study of foreign languages. Organized by the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan and the Main Department of Education of the city of Ashgabat, the exhibition included displays from the Bazar Amanov State Children's Library of Turkmenistan, as well as sales points from the "Türkmenkitap" bookshop association.

Such events, illustrating the development of the country and promoting the rich national heritage, are particularly effective for younger schoolchildren. They help children become acquainted with the wonderful world of books, instilling in them the value of reading and developing their imagination. The exhibition hall was brightly decorated, which created a festive atmosphere. A significant contribution to the organization of the exhibition was made by Desse Annayeva, the librarian of Secondary School No. 29, who in 2022 took second place in the national competition "Best School Library". Her diligent work and dedication received high praise from teachers and students, which underscores the importance of the work of school librarians in nurturing a new generation of readers.
