Iran offers neighboring countries to establish port facilities in Bandar Abbas
26.05.2025 | 14:00 |Acting Deputy for Economic Affairs at the Iranian Foreign Ministry Seyed Abdolrassoul Mohajer Hejazi said that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide the necessary facilities in Bandar Abbas for the establishment of independent port organizations of neighboring countries. This statement was made on Saturday, May 24, at the opening ceremony of the additional phase and the establishment of the Tehran-Apren railway dry port, NourNews reports. Mohajer Hejazi noted that there are neighbors in the north of the country that do not have access to open waters, and the Islamic Republic of Iran can become a route of communication between these countries and the sea. Central Asian countries, Russia, Belarus, as well as countries in the Caucasus region, including Azerbaijan, Armenia and Georgia, as well as Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan, can now access Bandar Abbas through Iranian transport routes.
The acting deputy for economic affairs of the Iranian Foreign Ministry admitted the possibility of these countries establishing their own independent port organization in Bandar Abbas, adding: The Ministry of Roads and Urban Development of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by Farzaneh Sadegh is fully prepared to provide these countries with the necessary facilities in Bandar Abbas. In addition to this, the existing opportunities in the south of the country were mentioned, allowing the friendly country of the United Arab Emirates to use the closest, safest and most accessible route to access Central Asia through Iran.
The completion and commissioning of the Chabahar-Zahedan railway line scheduled for the end of the year will be a turning point in the development of Iran's transport routes and transit potential. According to Mohajer Hejazi, these projects are aimed at developing regional communications and the country's transport infrastructure, which can play the role of a link between the countries of the region.
