WWDC 2025: Apple presents "Liquid Glass" and redesigned OS
09.06.2025 | 15:36 |The highly anticipated WWDC 2025 conference is taking place from June 9th to 13th, where Apple is officially introducing a redesigned aesthetic for its operating systems. While the primary focus is on iOS 19 (potentially named iOS 26) for iPhone, these changes extend across all of the company's platforms.
The pivotal innovation is a substantial overhaul of the user interface design, executed in the translucent "Liquid Glass" aesthetic. The objective of this comprehensive redesign is to facilitate a seamless transition between various Apple devices, thereby creating a more cohesive and intuitive user experience.
According to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, Apple is showcasing entirely new "Liquid Glass" interface elements during the presentation. This indicates that the updated operating systems extensively incorporate elements reminiscent of translucent glass, alongside dynamic visual effects that simulate reflections and glare.
Users can anticipate the integration of reflective and glass-like surfaces across all standard iOS 19 interface elements. This impacts buttons, toolbars, and tab bars, imbuing them with a contemporary and "airy" appearance. Furthermore, application icons on the home screen are being re-engineered to feature a more rounded shape and distinctive glossy, reflective highlights along their edges.
Other Apple platforms—macOS, watchOS, iPadOS, and tvOS—will also receive analogous updates. Their designs will harmoniously align with the new "Liquid Glass" aesthetic, ensuring a unified style and functionality across all devices. Notwithstanding these overarching modifications, Apple will preserve the unique layout, navigation, and interaction paradigms tailored to each form factor, thereby optimizing the utilization of each device's capabilities.
