"I have been discussing with Coca-Cola the possibility of using real cane sugar in Coca-Cola in the United States, and they have agreed to it. I would like to thank all of the executives at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move on their part – you'll see. It will only be better!" Trump posted on Wednesday, July 16, on his social acccount Truth".
Coca-Cola issued a statement on its website on Wednesday, expressing admiration for "President Trump's enthusiasm for the iconic Coca-Cola brand."
"More detailed information about new, innovative offerings within our Coca-Cola product portfolio will be released soon," the statement read.
Currently, Coca-Cola supplies its eponymous soda to the American market using high-fructose corn syrup instead of cane sugar.
Reuters noted that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Secretary of Health in the Trump administration, has campaigned for the elimination of artificial colorings and other additives in food products. Kennedy Jr. has also criticized the high sugar consumption by Americans.
Trump himself prefers "Diet Coke," which uses artificial sweeteners. During his first presidential term, a special button for ordering this beverage was reportedly installed in the Oval Office of the White House.
