Oriented on making people closer

On August 10, a telephone conversation was held between National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

At the beginning of the conversation, the interlocutors noted the high level of bilateral relations. Ilham Aliyev warmly recalled Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov's recent visit to Azerbaijan, calling it an important milestone in the history of cooperation. During the conversation, special attention was paid to the new agreements reached during the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to the United States.

In particular, they discussed the Declaration signed by the President of Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia with the testimony of the President of the United States, as well as the initialing of the Agreement on the establishment of peace and interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warmly congratulated the President and people of Azerbaijan on these historic agreements. In turn, Ilham Aliyev congratulated the head of the Khalk Maslakhaty and the President of Turkmenistan on the successful holding of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Avaza. He expressed gratitude for the hospitality extended to the Azerbaijani delegation and conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that the international forum was an important step in strengthening cooperation and emphasized the high level of participation of the Azerbaijani delegation.

The interlocutors also highly appreciated the results of the recent trilateral meeting between Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in Avaza. They agreed that the three countries have great potential for expanding cooperation, in particular, in the development of transport and communication corridors.

Along with this, the importance of the meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia in the Avaza Congress Center was noted, where issues of the upcoming Consultative Meeting in Tashkent were discussed and where Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov voiced the initiative of Azerbaijan joining this cooperation format.

At the end of the conversation, the parties exchanged views on priority areas of bilateral relations. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited President Ilham Aliyev to visit Turkmenistan at any convenient time.
