Kazakhstan reconstructs highway to Turkmenistan border

In the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan, a section of the international highway connecting the city of Zhanaozen to the "Temir baba" border crossing with Turkmenistan is undergoing reconstruction. The total length of the road being repaired is 164 kilometers, as reported by the Lada.kz portal.

According to the source, 114 kilometers of the highway will undergo medium-grade repair, while the remaining 50 kilometers, which were previously unpaved, will be completely rebuilt. All work is being carried out by Kazakh specialists.

This year alone, the plan is to complete 60 kilometers of the road, which will require laying about 100,000 tons of asphalt. The project is on schedule and is expected to be finished by the end of 2026.

The chairman of the board of the National Company "Kazavtozhol," Darkhan Imanashev, noted that it currently takes trucks 5 to 8 hours to travel from Zhanaozen to the Turkmenistan border. After the reconstruction, this travel time will be reduced to about 2.5 hours, which will help increase the volume of transit traffic.

In addition, the improved highway will provide better access to tourist sites in Mangystau, including the Kenberli resort area, and will contribute to the development of the region's transport and logistics potential.
