Time magazine has published its annual “Time’s Best Inventions” list — a compilation of the best inventions that emerged over the past 12 months. In 2025, the list set a record: it featured 300 of the greatest innovations, the largest number in the 25-year history of the ranking.

Time experts requested nominations from editors and correspondents worldwide to compile the list. Key criteria for evaluating inventions included their effectiveness, potential, and impact in their respective fields.

Innovations are categorized into several areas, including:

• Robotics (e.g., a new generation of humanoid robots).

• Artificial Intelligence (AI).

• Health, Beauty, and Design.

• Agriculture and Food.

Among the most notable inventions of 2025 are a foldable projector, heatable sneakers, a smart seatbelt, and the first IR hairdryer. These innovations illustrate how the accelerated pace of innovation is changing the world.

Time editors note that over the past quarter-century, the pace of innovation has continually accelerated, which led to the expansion of the list. Previous years’ rankings also included significant breakthroughs: in 2024, transparent laptops and smart toilets, and in 2023, a flying car and the MSG Sphere amphitheater.
