Telegram founder Pavel Durov has officially announced the launch of the Cocoon project (Confidential Compute Open Network). It is a confidential, open, and decentralized computing network designed for secure handling of artificial intelligence (AI) tasks.
Cocoon offers an innovative model that addresses the high cost and limited privacy of AI services. Neural network computations are carried out on users’ own devices equipped with powerful GPUs who agree to participate in the network.
Developers gain access to resources at prices lower than centralized providers, with a guarantee of 100% confidentiality.
Device owners can earn TON cryptocurrency in real time by providing their computing power.
Durov confirmed that Telegram is already using Cocoon for automatic message translation. In the near future, the network will be scaled up and several new fully private AI-powered features for messenger users are planned. The project’s source code is available on GitHub.
