A key training seminar aimed at enhancing environmental awareness among the youngest generation was held in Ashgabat. On December 4, at the UN Office in Turkmenistan, preschool teachers, Ministry of Education specialists, and researchers studied a new program on climate change adaptation.
The event, conducted within the cooperation between Turkmenistan’s Ministry of Education and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), was dedicated to the effective implementation of a newly published educational and methodological guide.
The guide in question is titled “Curriculum and Methodological Recommendations on Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction for Preschool Institutions.” Its development and wide publication highlight the comprehensive work being carried out in Turkmenistan to implement environmental policy and protect the environment.

During the active training, participants — including educators from Ashgabat and Arkadag — received detailed methodological advice from the authors of the guide. Together, they worked on the following issues:
• Prevention of climate change.
• Increasing preparedness for climate-related risks.
• Developing innovative approaches to the educational process tailored to children’s age-specific needs.
This methodological guide will serve as a useful resource for teachers in educating children about essential knowledge related to climate change and its consequences, laying the foundation for environmental responsibility from an early age.
