On the evening of December 22, an aircraft operated by Ural Airlines, flying on the Dubai–Yekaterinburg route, made an emergency landing at Ashgabat International Airport due to a technical malfunction.
According to the airline’s Telegram channel, the aircraft commander detected a discrepancy in fuel readings and, acting in accordance with instructions and safety requirements, shut down the engine and safely landed at the nearest airport.
Thanks to the coordinated actions of the staff of Ashgabat International Airport and other relevant agencies, all 93 passengers and 8 crew members were promptly assisted with accommodation in one of the capital’s hotels, as well as provided with water and hot meals, the Russian Embassy in Turkmenistan reported on its Telegram channel.
Diplomats from the Embassy also promptly arrived at the hotel and maintained contact with its staff as well as with the relevant services of Ashgabat Airport. At 06:40 local time, all citizens of the friendly country were able to depart for Yekaterinburg on a backup aircraft that arrived from Russia.
“We thank the Turkmen side for the assistance provided,” the Embassy’s statement said.
