The coverage zone of Turkmenistan's first national satellite, "TürkmenÄlem 52°E," extends to Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, Central Asia, the CIS countries, and several regions of Asia, where more than 1.2 billion people live.
The launch of the satellite in 2015 was an important stage in the development of the national telecommunications infrastructure and the expansion of international communication capabilities. Turkmenistan is a full member of the International Telecommunication Union and the Universal Postal Union, actively participating in relevant international initiatives.
The ongoing projects contribute to the development of transit telecommunication routes between Europe and Asia, increasing network capacity, and strengthening Turkmenistan's role as an important communication hub in the region.
