Turkmenistan is preparing for a large-scale spring planting season, which will be marked by the systematic renewal of forest areas. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the corresponding resolution at a Cabinet of Ministers meeting on Friday, scheduling the nationwide greening campaign for March 21.
The document obligates ministries, agencies, and municipalities to ensure a high level of organizational support for the event. The main goal is not simply to increase the number of trees, but to create sustainable ecosystems and ensure high-quality care for each planted seedling.
According to the environmental strategy, new forest areas are provided with water-efficient drip irrigation systems. In addition to traditional coniferous and deciduous trees, emphasis is placed on the creation of orchards and vineyards. The Ministry of Environmental Protection is supplying seedlings adapted to the local climate from specialized nurseries.
The upcoming event on March 21 will be a key milestone in fulfilling the annual plan to plant 3 million trees. In the face of global climate change, the creation of "green belts" around cities and towns is a key tool for protecting soil and creating a comfortable microclimate.
For Turkmenistan, the tradition of mass tree plantings on the eve of Novruz symbolizes not only the spring renewal of nature but also the continuity of generations in caring for their native land.
