On March 18, the Turkmen State Institute of Architecture and Construction hosted the 5th Open International Online Olympiad in the discipline “Strength of Materials.” Students from higher education institutions of Turkmenistan and abroad took part in the intellectual competition.
The Olympiad brought together a record number of participants — 877 students. Representatives of youth from the United States, Australia, Germany, Romania, Malaysia, China, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, Uganda, and Pakistan, as well as leading universities of Turkmenistan, competed in the tournament.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by Acting Rector M. Babayev, who emphasized the importance of integrating the national education system into the global scientific and educational space and actively implementing digital technologies.
The intellectual marathon was conducted in a single round using a digital learning system. Participants were tasked with solving six highly complex problems in the specialized subject. Exactly 120 minutes were allocated to complete the tasks.
The objectivity of evaluation was ensured by an international jury consisting of professors and lecturers from leading foreign technical universities. This enabled effective exchange of experience between engineering schools from different countries.
The Olympiad aims to identify talented young people capable of independently solving complex engineering problems. Students’ success in international competitions enhances the prestige of the national education system and contributes to training highly qualified specialists for the innovative sectors of Turkmenistan’s economy.
