On March 20, a telephone conversation took place between National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The two leaders warmly congratulated each other and the fraternal peoples of the two countries on Eid al-Fitr and Novruz. As Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted, this spring holiday, symbolizing renewal and bright hopes, has united our peoples since time immemorial based on shared historical and cultural roots. The Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty conveyed sincere greetings to the President of Uzbekistan on behalf of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
In turn, Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended heartfelt congratulations to Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the fourth anniversary of his election as President of Turkmenistan, noting his significant contribution to the development of good-neighborly and strategic relations between the two countries.
The parties emphasized that joint celebration of significant anniversaries fosters greater mutual understanding between peoples and provides impetus for multifaceted cooperation.
Political Dialogue: A series of high-level meetings are planned for this year. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited Shavkat Mirziyoyev to visit Turkmenistan in the fall to participate in the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, as well as the CIS summit.
Economy and Trade: The effective work of the Intergovernmental Commission was noted. Energy, transport, agriculture, and border trade remain strategic priorities. The parties confirmed their readiness to implement new mutually beneficial projects.
Humanitarian: They reaffirmed their commitment to holding cross-cultural Days, arts festivals, and developing ties in science and education.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will continue to closely coordinate their efforts to ensure stability and security in the region in the interests of the well-being of their fraternal peoples.
