On April 7, a telephone conversation took place between National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and Speaker of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko.
This call was a confirmation of deep mutual respect. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov warmly congratulated Valentina Matviyenko on her birthday, praising her as a wise politician and a sincere, long-standing friend of Turkmenistan.
During the conversation, a wide-ranging agenda of cooperation was discussed. Particular attention was paid to Valentina Matviyenko's role in developing interparliamentary dialogue and the international women's movement.
Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed gratitude for the support of significant initiatives to hold the Women's Dialogue, the Conference on Demographic Issues, and a high-level event within the framework of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in Avaza in October of this year. These events will serve as an important prelude to the meeting of the Commonwealth Heads of State Council, which Turkmenistan will chair this year.
The conversation also touched on joint humanitarian projects, including the establishment of the Turkmen-Russian University and the construction of a new building for the A.S. Pushkin Theater in Ashgabat.
Concluding the conversation, the National Leader of the Turkmen People once again wished Valentina Matviyenko success in her important work and conveyed warm greetings to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
