
The Embassy of Japan in Turkmenistan has announced the start of applications for the prestigious Japanese Government (MEXT) scholarship programs for 2027. Key dates:
• Application deadline: May 26, 2026 (inclusive).
• Examination date: June 14, 2026 (Sunday).
Available programs:
• Research Students (Graduate level): For university graduates born after April 2, 1992. The program includes 6 months of Japanese language training and 2 years of research.
• Undergraduate Students: For applicants born after April 2, 2002, who have completed 12 years of education. Duration: 5–7 years.
• Colleges of Technology (KOSEN): Vocational education in fields such as mechanics, electronics, and architecture. Requires 11 years of school education.
• Specialized Training Colleges: Programs in design, culture, business, and hygiene. Duration: 3 years.
All programs include a mandatory Japanese language course. Even if you plan to study in English, the Japanese language exam is required for all applicants. If a candidate scores 0 on the language test, they are automatically disqualified.
The scholarship covers tuition fees, airfare, and living expenses. For successful preparation, the Embassy recommends reviewing past exam samples in advance and strictly adhering to age requirements.
