May 15, 2026 is a symbolic date for the international exhibition community. Exactly one year from now, on May 15, 2027, the Specialized World Expo “EXPO 2027” will open its doors in Belgrade, Republic of Serbia. Turkmenistan, as an active participant in global processes, has already completed key stages of preparation for this large-scale event.
Strategic steps and official agreements
The path toward participation in EXPO 2027 began well in advance. On February 8, 2025, Turkmenistan’s participation with its own national pavilion was officially approved. An important technical step was the allocation of a land plot for the construction of the pavilion.
The legal framework for participation was finalized earlier this year. On January 30, 2026, the Turkmen side signed the main Participation Agreement, which was subsequently delivered to the Serbian partners through diplomatic channels.
Theme and mission of the pavilion
Special attention has been given to the ideological concept of the exposition. The theme of the national pavilion was approved as “Turkmenistan – Melody of Peace, Home of Health.” This concept reflects the country’s policy of permanent neutrality and its priorities in the field of public well-being.
The Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations of Turkmenistan was appointed as the Commissioner General of the exhibition, underlining the high level of representation and the significance of the project for the country.
Active diplomacy and future plans
A Turkmen delegation led by the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations took part in two key meetings of international participants in Belgrade:
• The first meeting was held on June 9–12, 2025.
• The second meeting took place on March 10–12, 2026.
One of the central events of Turkmenistan’s participation will be the National Day of Turkmenistan. The ceremonial event is scheduled for the first half of the day on May 17, 2027, as officially agreed.
The coming year will be devoted to active construction work and the development of the internal exposition, which is expected to showcase the achievements, cultural heritage, and economic potential of modern Turkmenistan to the world.
