Preparations for events to mark the proclamation of the city of Anau as the cultural capital of the Turkic world in 2024 were considered at a meeting of the Turkmen government on Saturday, January 6. Deputy Prime Minister Myahrijemal Mammedova reported to President Serdar Berdimuhamedov about the program of planned forums, exhibitions and concerts with the participation of cultural figures of Turkic countries.

In the coming year, Turkmenistan will host two important international forums in the field of culture, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and philosopher Magtymguly, whose work enriched the treasury of world culture. These are a summit in October, which is expected to be attended by heads of government, and an international conference in May, which will bring together culture ministers.

The joint U.S.-Turkmen concert featured classics from such musicals as "Chicago," "Phantom of the Opera," and "Annie," among others. American artists Kate Bass and Aaron Young, artists from the National Symphony Orchestra of Turkmenistan conducted by Rasul Klychev, soloists from the Turkmen National Conservatory, and Youth Choirs from Mary and Lebap performed together on stage. Earlier, the cities of Mary and Turkmenabat hosted joint performances which attracted crowds across Turkmenistan.
