Days of Culture of Turkmenistan began in Albuquerque
24.10.2023 | 13:56 |On October 23, Days of Culture of Turkmenistan started in Albuquerque, the sister city of Ashgabat, USA. This event was organized in honor of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Turkmen poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi. A delegation of figures of science, culture and art of Turkmenistan takes part in the event.
As part of the Culture Days, a creative meeting was held, organized by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the USA and the University of New Mexico with the support of the Albuquerque City Hall. During the meeting, works by Magtymguly were read in the Turkmen language, as well as their translations in English.
Participants of the event also received extensive information about the life and work of the great Turkmen poet and thinker thanks to presentations by representatives of the Magtymguly Institute of Language, Literature and National Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan and the Centralized Library System of the Department of Culture of the city of Ashgabat.
During the event, the poet and member of the New Mexico State Senate, William Baldwin Onil, spoke from the American side, who highly appreciated the work of Magtymguly Fragi and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to attend such a wonderful event.
As part of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan, a meeting of the delegation of Turkmenistan with President of the University of New Mexico Garnett Stokes also took place. The parties discussed the prospects for developing cooperation between universities of the two countries.
Issues of organizing online training for Turkmen students, as well as visits of University professors to Turkmenistan to exchange experience in the field of science and education were raised.
