 President of Turkmenistan Extends Greetings on World Environment Day

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov congratulated environmental workers and all compatriots on the occasion of World Environment Day. In his message, he noted that during the International Year of Peace and Trust, the country is successfully implementing programs focused on afforestation, nature conservation, and maintaining ecological balance.

The head of state emphasized that the primary goal of Turkmenistan’s national environmental policy is the rational use of natural resources, the protection of flora and fauna, and the creation of a favorable environment for future generations. He also noted that national traditions of environmental stewardship have gained new momentum in the years of independence.

President Berdimuhamedov highlighted the annual nationwide tree-planting campaigns, which are expanding green zones around Ashgabat and throughout the regions. He particularly pointed to the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” on the Caspian Sea coast as an area that offers environmentally friendly recreational conditions.

President of Turkmenistan named the Turkmen Lake “Altyn Asyr” as a significant ecological project that positively impacts regional biodiversity. The country is also taking measures to protect rare and endemic plant and animal species and is improving its environmental legislation.

Serdar Berdimuhamedov underscored Turkmenistan’s active participation in international environmental initiatives, including cooperation with the United Nations and its agencies such as UNDP, UNEP, FAO, as well as with the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea and other organizations. Turkmenistan has joined the Paris Agreement and the Global Methane Pledge and is taking steps to combat climate change.

In conclusion, the President of Turkmenistan wished health, well-being, and continued success to environmental workers in their efforts to protect nature and promote the sustainable development of the country.
